Rooted in Community.

Delivering fresh, organic, locally grown produce to Johnston County food banks and soup kitchens for over 14 years!

23,460 people are food insecure in Johnston County, 8,350 are children!

It is heartbreaking to know that although we are surrounded by agriculture, hunger continues to be an insidious, crippling problem in our neighborhoods. In the past few years, our world faced an unprecedented health and economic crisis. Working families were plunged into uncertainty and more residents than ever before found themselves forced to use charitable organizations to help put food on the table.

Harvesting Hope NC quickly mobilized in response. We believe that everyone--no matter their resources--should have access to fresh, healthy produce.

Gardeners, scholars say, are the first sign of a commitment to a community.

Harvesting Hope NC is working to end hunger in Johnston County in three ways, and we could use your help.

  • We Harvest.

For the past fourteen years, we have administered the Plant a Row for the Hungry program, delivering thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables to nearby soup kitchens and food pantries. This included over 9,300 pounds donated in 2024 alone. We also work with local farms to glean surplus crops.

  • We Educate.

One of our best weapons to defeat the hunger epidemic is education. We offer comprehensive programs using a sustainable, organic approach that is steeped in science.

  • We Advocate.

Together, we can end hunger, but it’s going to require innovative, transformative solutions. Contact us today about how you can get involved.
